William Stopani

(Northern District) Born in Aberdeen, 24th November 1830, the son of John Stopani and Christina Duncan; arrived in Valladolid via Paris, where he was delayed for a month through illness; ordained a priest in Palencia, 30th May 1854, and left for Scotland, 12th June 1854; worked in Aberdeen, became Canon and Provost of the Aberdeen chapter, vicar general and domestic prelate; died in Aberdeen, 29th October 1894.

William Stopani was the uncle of William Shaw (student No. 209) and the great uncle of William Stopani (student No. 299).

The Rev. William Stopani, born in Aberdeen on the 24th November, 1830, was received at Blairs College in September, 1843, and was sent, on the 3d May, 1847, to the Scots College of Valladolid. He received Holy Orders from the same Prelate on the same dates, and returned home at the same time as Mr. Smith last mentioned. After a residence of some weeks at Preshome, he was appointed, in the end of August, one of the Missionaries in Aberdeen.
